Warp speed ahead! New Star Trek trailer and costumes!

Trekkies and sci-fi fans are Vulcan excited about the new JJ Abrams vision of Star Trek due in theatres on May 8th, 2009.

The film takes a look at the early days of James T. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise and is something of a prequel to the classic 1960s original series created by Gene Roddenberry. All of the major characters from the original series will play a part in the film, although different, more age-appropriate actors will be playing the roles of the younger Spock, Kirk, Bones, Sulu, Uhura, and Scotty. Although Zachary Quinto will be playing the role of young Spock, Leonard Nimoy is scheduled to make an appearance reprising his iconic role.

Additionally, new characters will play a major role in the film, such as Eric Bana’s angry (and quite possibly evil) space pirate, Nero.

There’s also time to pick up some Star Trek costumes or make your own in time for the film’s premiere or at any convention on your starship’s radar.
