Will Robin Hood 2010 Costumes Rival Robin Hood 1991?

After 19 years, Hollywood is going to be offering a new face for Robin Hood, a noble man among thieves. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was released in theatres in 1991 with Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Christian Slater, Alan Rickman, and a small appearance by Sean Connery.

This tale was one of love for Maid Marian, anger at a father’s death, and righting corrupt officials to save a kingdom and its people. For those of us who saw Robin Hood Prince of Thieves in theatres it may be very difficult for us to see Robin Hood unleashed on screens again. I may have only been eleven at the time, but I remember what it was like to see this movie on the big screen. Now I’ll have to decide if Robin Hood 2010 or as it has been known Nottingham will be able to hold a candle to the 1991 version.

This latest tale of Robin Hood is starting out great due to the cast line up. First of all Ridley Scott is the director with the story by Brian Helgeland. The cast of actors begins with Russell Crowe as Robin Hood. Do you think he has what it takes to be just as great as Kevin Costner? I for one will be waiting to see. Also in the cast are Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey, and Matthew Macfayden as Sheriff of Nottingham. Danny Huston will be playing King Richard.

For the costume world this means we may have a new and yet period Robin Hood Costume, along with a Maid Marian costume. We will also need a Sheriff of Nottingham costume.

Now you might be wondering how this Robin Hood could possibly differ from the Prince of Thieves? Isn’t Robin Hood the good guy and the Sheriff of Nottingham corrupt? Well, in this film we will be finding out. The story is going to follow Robin Hood as one of King Richard’s famous archers and an outlaw of English Folk Tales.

At the beginning we will see the death of King Richard during the Siege of Chalus Chabrol. It is during this time Robin Hood rises to fame. This Robin Hood is supposed to be more historically accurate than any other before it. In fact it has been likened to Gladiator in its reality of history being portrayed in film. Robin Hood will definitely be unlike any before, which may influence whether you like this 2010 Robin Hood.

We can at least be certain that you will enjoy the costumes such as the King Richard costume that will come from this film. Robin Hood is set to release on May 14th, 2010. In the film you will discover the original Medieval Tales in which Robin Hood was a commoner and not a noble robbed of his lands. The premise is still the same with Robin Hood robbing the rich to help the poor with his band of Merry Men though.
