You know them, even if you are no longer a child and have not seen a show in years- you know who the Sesame Street gang is. The gang has been around for forty years as of November 10, 2009. For these four decades Sesame Street has been instrumental in teaching children and adults a variety of important topics.

Though the show is for children, they have discussed many important topics such as psychology, how to help your children and much more. Education is the foundation of this puppet show. Sesame Street is set in a fake Brooklyn City where Big Bird and his many friends live. Aside from the puppets of the show, Sesame Street has had a number of very popular celebrities on their show.

For the 40th anniversary show, Michelle Obama stopped by. She was helping to teach children and the puppet cast of Sesame Street how to grow a cucumber. Over the years Sesame Street has grown as a result of some of the big- named guests and celebrities who have appeared. Jessica Alba, Maya Angelou, Alan Arkin, Lauren Bacall, Tyra Banks, Joshua Bell, Tony Bennett, Jack Black, Andrea Bocelli, Garth Brooks, Jim Carrey and John Candy are just a few of the celebrities who have appeared on Sesame Street. Even Bill Cosby, Hillary Clinton, Rosemary Clooney, Cher, Robert De Niro, and Mel Gibson have made appearances.

If you want a unique and magical birthday for November or even a great Thanksgiving costume party you might consider the gang of Sesame Street for your themes. After all if you invite Big Bird you’ll have enough to feed everyone! Sorry, a bit of humor there. But, seriously, for a Thanksgiving theme this year consider a Big Bird costume or perhaps the Count costume. The Count is always willing to provide a lesson in numbers to help you get the meal out on time and done to perfection.

No party will be complete without Elmo costumes. He is the life of the party, with his bouncy, ticklish nature. Bert and Ernie are waiting in the wings to show up as well to make an entire feast day. Sesame Street can teach you a lot whether you watch the show or decide to bring them round for the holidays to teach the meaning of Thanksgiving. So celebrate their 40th anniversary in style!

Charles Schultz left a legacy that will not be forgotten any time soon. His creature of the “Little Round Headed Boy,” and his dog pal have warmed hearts for several generations. Each year ABC brings back Charlie Brown and his pals in the various holiday animated cartoons, which were created.

Last month ‘It’s a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” was played for the Halloween Holiday, and already we have two more holidays lined up to celebrate. Coming soon on television will be Charlie Brown’s animated celebration of Thanksgiving. You might decide breaking out the Pilgrim Costume is the right thing to do, especially if you add a little snoopy costume to the mix. Can you imagine Snoopy dressed like a pilgrim? I sure can!

If that isn’t enough we also have Christmas headed our way. In the Charlie Brown animated classic for Christmas we learn the true meaning of the holiday as Charlie Brown brings home a pitiful little tree for the Christmas Pageant. Not only do you have Snoopy decorating his home with lights and ornaments, you have a Snoopy Costume dressed like Santa to choose from. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, and the whole gang are just waiting for you and your costume party!

Remakes of all things ’80s have reached a fever pitch. The latest on the block is a movie redux of the television show that brought Mr. T to primetime and into homes everywhere: The A-Team.

The ’80s original centered on four Vietnam veterans who were framed for a crime they didn’t commit. They take the show on the road to evade the military police, helping out people along the way as they attempt to clear their names. In the original, Mr. T played B.A. Baracus (”B.A.” for “Bad Attitude”), the A-Team’s mechanic and muscle. George Peppard was Hannibal, the group’s cigar chomping leader who “love it when a plan comes together.” Dwight Schultz was “Howling Mad” Murdoch, the team’s resident loose cannon and Dirk Benedict was Templeton “Faceman” Peck, the group’s prettyboy and master of disguise.

While you gotta pity the fool that steps into Mr. T’s shoes, UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson just may have the mettle, muscle, and humor to bring it to the role of B.A. Baracus. (Anyone doubting Rampage’s sense of humor has to see this past week’s episode of Ultimate Fighter 10.) Rounding out the cast is Liam Neeson as grey-haired Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, and Sharlto Copely as Murdoch. Jessica Biel is also part of the cast, although what role she is playing has yet to be confirmed.

The plot sounds about the same as the original series, the only difference being the substitution of the characters being veterans of the first Gulf War as opposed to the Vietnam war. Hopefully, the A-Team van will be a part of the big screen adaptation, too! (Please don’t let Hannibal drive an SUV. Please.) The scheduled release date for the new A-Team is June 11, 2010.

Get a jump on putting together your A-Team costumes for next year. Grab a bunch of gold chains and a mohawk wig (try the Mr. Hammer version!) to pull together your own “Bad Attitude.” Or, for a John “Hannibal” Smith costume try a fake cigar, a short grey men’s wig, and a pair of black leather gloves. Don’t you just love it when a costume comes together?!

The Simpsons is perhaps the most popular animated television show to hit primetime. The show was created by Matt Groening. At first The Simpsons were little shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show. They first appeared in 1987. The small sketches were such a hit that in 1988 Fox picked up the show for a series to be released for the 1989 season. Since then The Simpsons have been warming households each week.

This year for Halloween if you want to be one of The Simpsons characters you certainly have plenty of options. There are Bart Simpson costumes, Homer costumes, even Snowball II costumes. But for a truly great costume consider Marge Simpson costumes.

One inventive individual has created Marge Simpson Playboy costume. That’s right your favorite TV mom has decided to go a little sexy and pose for playboy! The costume choice is up to you, but let this idea take you to a new costume that many people will not have. Why go out in a green dress with a Marge Simpson wig like everyone else. Instead grab your Playboy Bunny, Marge Simpson wig and make all the Homer’s Drool even more!

Mayhem ensues as parents’ all over the United States get ready for Halloween. Each and every parent has their investigative hat on to figure out what Halloween costumes are needed for their infant to toddler aged children. With only eight weeks to go, it is a scramble to find the “purrfect” ferocious lion or cuddly bear. Notes are being furiously scribbled in their notebooks as parents make decisions, reject others, and plan out the entire evening of gathering candy, visiting friends, and showing off their bundles of joy.

But what are they choosing? What costumes are making the cut for this year’s Halloween? Is it the same popular costumes of the years before or something less main stream? Stay tuned as we go over the sensational, the edible, and the furry picks of the season.

Sensational Delights from TV

Bring in the new and the old when discussing top television costumes for infants to toddler aged children. Cartoons make some of the best Halloween Costumes. Give your children the same adventures of their cartoon friends with Big Bird Costumes and Sesame Street. Or go under the sea and take an exploration course with Sponge Bob costumes and his many cohorts. Let your children sleuth their way up the streets in a Scooby Doo costume, but be on hand in case a ghostly vision floats your way! The nemeses Boris and Natasha are on the loose again. They are getting ready to overthrow the U.S. Government with a Russian Blitz Attack- but are Rocky and Bulwinkle on the case? If you fear Boris and Natasha you’d better make sure to pick up at least a Bulwinkle costume and get prepared.

Cultivating Your Fruits and Vegetables: Picking to Perfection

The strawberry patch is on the move, growing through the streets of downtown “Mayberry,” you’d better find Strawberry Shortcake costumes to stop the onslaught or it could be a “berry scary” Halloween.

This just in- Sightings of walking carrots: Vegetables are running rampant. It’s not only the carrot costumes walking off the shelves, but heads of broccoli costumes and tomato costumes are mixing it up for a very colorful Halloween. You might just need the fruit and vegetable crime fighters on the streets in their special police costumes to stop the scare!

Looking for a Roaring Good Time?

It’s not too late to find those furry adorable critters that make the streets safe from vampires and ghouls. That’s right calling all lions, tigers and bears “Oh My!” It is a forest of kings with long tails, devious fangs, and the sweetest smiles! They are sure to repel any vampires or zombies walking the streets.

Movies Have It!

Vying for the perfect movie costume? Look no further, your toddler will be a hit as a Star Wars Ewok. The Ewok costumes put all fuzzy animals to shame with their adorable appearance, gibberish, and deadly accurate smiles. If you are looking for something more main stream from the movies consider grabbing some balloons and a scout costume to fly over the city gathering candy. The hit movie UP has given us plenty of ideas for relocation this year. If that isn’t enough we also have a Night at the Museum waiting for us with presidents, other famous people, and rhino’s running through the halls.

All of these costume ideas and much more are available. Imagination is the limit when it comes to making sure your toddlers have the best costume on the block!

Each May the season finales are offered to us, much of the shows leave us with little hooks to increase our anticipation for Fall Sweeps. For the television fanatic now is the time to prepare for the upcoming fall shows with costumes. Whether you watch NCIS or Heroes costumes can be found for almost any show. Added to the shows we have been anticipating the return for, are going to be new shows.

For those who might not know here are a few of the shows which will be returning to the line up: House, Dancing with the Stars, How I Met Your Mother, Heroes, Chuck, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Gary Unmarried, America’s Next Top Model, So You Think You Can Dance, Grey’s Anatomy. Other shows returning include Survivor, CSI, Supernatural, Bones, Fringe, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Supernanny, Ugly Betty, Ghost Whisper, and Medium. These are just some of the shows you can pull costumes from to get ready for the new season. There are also new shows that might catch your interest like Vampire Diaries, Community, Trauma, Cougar Town, Melrose Place, and Three Rivers.

Many of the shows will be premiering the week of September 20th 2009. Although, Bones and Fringe will appear September 17th and a couple of favorite shows are coming up the following week of September 27th. Whether you favorite show is NCIS or Heroes you will have plenty of costumes to choose from.

Consider an “Abby” Goth Forensics NCIS costume or perhaps you would rather be an alien costume like something you would find on Fringe. Heroes costumes are just the tip of the superhero world for this new season. While Chuck may not appear till March 2010, his superhero CIA costume is still going to be of interest for some. After all, add a little computer geek costume to the whole CIA image and you have a great cover!

Last season’s musical episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is making its rounds to live stages across the county beginning in New York and ending at Los Angeles’ Palladium. The episode in which goofball Charlie pens a rock opera based on his characters of “The Dayman” and “The Nightman” starring his friends has now inspired the cast of the FX network comedy to take the show on the road, performing the musical episode live.

Coinciding with the show’s fifth season premiere on Thursday September 17th, 2009, “The Nightman Cometh” will be playing at Philadelphia’s Tower Theatre. While no previews of the show have been given to the public, the episode enough is incentive enough for fans of the series to check out the musical. The prospect of hearing the show’s cast including Philadelphia native, Rob McElhenny, who plays Mac (and who is also one of the show’s creators and writers), his real-life wife and co-star Caitlyn Olson who plays Sweet Dee, and Danny DeVito among others sing such songs as “You Gotta Pay the Troll Toll” and “Day Man” and its reprise is enough to pry fans away from their television sets.

The San Diego Comic-Con once again saw devotees of all fandoms converge upon the West coast convention with cameras, comics, and costumes in-tow. For four days, July 22-26, SDCC boasts stars and exclusive unveilings of movies and posters for upcoming films that fans are on pins and needles waiting to sneek a peek at.

Among some of the luminaries in attendence, signing autographs and speaking at fan Q&A panels about their upcoming projects included Johnny Depp, Seth Rogen, Megan Fox, and Robert Downey, Jr.

Celebs aren’t the only reason fans turn out. Artists and comic book writers are also on hand, signing limited edition prints and items. Some of the panel discussions at SDCC 2009 included “How to get a job in the video game industry,” a Writer’s Guild panel on the changing face of animation and its PG-13 status (Seth McFarlane also put in an appearance talking about the behind-the-scenes fun on the set of the Family Guy ), and symposiums a-plenty! Additionally, action figure enthusiasts can get their mitts on limited-edition toys and t-shirts.

Not limited to just these attractions, the booths and displays at SDCC with costumes and artifacts from films like Star Wars and art inspired by cult films.

And of course, there are the costumes! Fans turn out in droves and part of the fun is playing dress-up in homemade, store-bought costumes that range from good, bad, and plain ugly. Still, it’s all in good fun and you’d be surprised at how good — or even imaginative — some of these SDCC fan costumes are! Here’s a random sampling of some of the more unique ones:

Television commercials are going to great lengths to create identifiable characters to help sell their products, making viewers/consumers feel comfortable with their product pitchers. For the first time since the ’80s where you had such recognizable commercial characters like Mr. Whipple (the “Don’t Squeeze the Charmin” guy), Madge the Palmolive lady, Budweiser non-spokesdog Spuds Mackenzie, and Dunkin’ Donuts “Time to Make the Donuts” guy, television commercials have some very familiar faces.

Currently, several commercial characters are just as widely recognized as actors on the television shows that they advertise with. Insurance companies lead the pack with the most well-known characters, including the ever-so-polite Geico Gecko, the misunderstood Cavemen, and of course, Flo the Progressive Insurance Peddler, with her never-ending optimism!

If you’re stuck for an idea for a costume, look to commercials for unique ideas that no one else may have thought of just yet. Cobble together your own Bob the Enzyte Guy costume, or check out some of our How To’s for a Billy Mays (OxiClean guy) costume, or how to make your own Shamwow! Guy costume.

Or… Worse comes to worse, just throw on a Snuggie and become a very colorful monk!
