We can only hope the production company has learned their lesson from this summer’s release of Harry Potter and the many angry fans they created with the postponement. But enough about negative aspects. Time to get excited and pull out your Harry Potter costumes for next year. In fact you might consider upgrading to the deluxe Hermione Granger costume or at least add to your accessories. It is time for Hermione, Ron, and Harry to go camping to save the world from Voldemort. Can they do it? Will the movie be just as exciting or more so than the book? Only time will tell.

The entire cast is back with Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint! Sadly Dumbledore will be missing from this movie after Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince tragedy. But never fear, a young Dumbledore will be appearing. Even Rubeus Hagrid will make an appearance for those who love this giant!

We will leave it up to you to decide if David Yates will prove his metal as the director of Movie 7. David Yates was the director on the last film, and as many know the series has seen more than one director throughout the years. The first film had director Chris Columbus, who felt it would not be possible to follow the actors through the entire story, but at least he returned for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Alfonso Cuaron and Mike Newell were the other two directors. For those who do not know David Yates did direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, so we know he has the talent to make a great film. We also know the screenplay writer has the talent for giving the actors content to act.

So for you fans out there- get ready because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is just a year away. Your costumes will be needed to welcome the gang back to the screen!

Now the question is will Twilight: New Moon be as big a hit as the first movie, even with fans? If you are waiting for an answer you might be getting mixed reviews. There are plenty of individuals who have been able to get early reviews of the movie in, and it seems the fans of the series are quite happy. The critics on the other hand are not. It will have to come down to each person making up their own mind as to whether the new film is worthy.

Having watched the first film, I could see the movies would be for teenagers where heavy romance and heart throbs would be enough. My disappointment came in the slow moving story and quite a few similarities to many of the vampire stories out there. Course I am no longer a teen. The critics of this new movie have stated it is more standing around with a lot of moaning, than acting. Some go so far as to say that it is more about the six pack abs of two main actors standing over the young girl than any real plot.

This second movie has Christ Weitz at the helm of director rather than the original director from the first movie. This could account for the bad reviews or in your mind it could truly change the movie for better. In most places there are at least ten hours until the midnight viewing at theatres. What we can tell you about the movie is that it is sure to be a box office hit raking in the millions, even if fans find it a little disappointing. Another thing we can tell you, is that the Twilight costumes such as vampire costume and werewolf costumes will continue to be hits at costume parties!

Computer animation combined with 3D features are just two things the film How to Train your Dragon will have. From a costume stand point, you will be looking at some new takes on an old theme and possibly resurrecting some long ago forgotten children’s costumes. The film has the voice talents of jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Gerad Butler, Craig Ferguson, and Christopher Mintz- Plasse. It is set to release in March 26, 2010, so you have plenty of time to decide what costume you will want to wear.

At the moment not a lot has been released on the plot. What we do know is that you will be taken to a mythical world of dragons and Vikings. Hiccup a Viking teenager in a Viking costume complete with Viking helmet only knows that fighting dragons is a way of life.

With a great deal of humor from Hiccup and the dislike of the tribe chief, Hiccup tries to seize a chance to show he is a fighter. Unfortunately he befriends the injured dragon instead and his world is turned around to find that dragons can be friends. Jay Baruchel will be voicing Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third.

This animated movie is sure to be a hit with most children and teenagers due to the comedy presented. You will have a chance to put on a costume party with Vikings or go for Toothless the dragon costume, Hiccup’s new friend.

If your child has a birthday party coming up with a costume theme you could not ask for a better idea than this sure to be hit movie coming soon. How to Train your Dragon is being produced by Dreamworks and the same creators as Shrek and KungFu Panda.

The story follows the original game with a young street urchin in ancient Persia adopted by the Sultan himself for a show of bravery. The Sultan declares the youth, Dastan, his heir. After a instrument of the gods called “The Sands of Time” falls into the hands of an evil nobleman (played by Academy Award Winner, Ben Kingsley), Nizam, Dastan has to recover the object and restore order to the kingdom. Additionally, there’s a princess and a creepy, leperous looking character that skulks in the shadows on the trailer.

While no officially licensed Prince of Persia costumes are available just yet, a number of items are available to get the jump on your crafting your own costume. Try picking up a brown chin length wig in a touseled, yet masculine style. Then go for a classic breastplate of armor in a silver or goldtone style with gauntlets and wristlets to wear along with your costume. Of course, you will also need a scimitar — the traditional curved sword favored by ancient Middle Eastern warriors. A Sultan robes and a long, thin mustache and goatee to create a Nizam/evil nobleman costume of your own… Until Disney markets official costumes for the film!

December is usually a month filled with great movies, which offer us some great costumes to choose from for holiday parties. This year is no exception. While the month begins a little slow for costume ideas it soon explodes with a couple of great hits.

The first movie you might be interested in for costumes is called Avatar. Avatar begins with a paraplegic ex-marine war veteran who ends up on a planet called Pandora. Unfortunately he finds himself in the mists of a war with the Na’Vi race in order to save humankind. This latest release is going to be a 3-D Sci-fi epic with top costume ideas. Avatar costumes are already flying off the shelves in the virtual world, so why not put a face to them from the movie. This year for a costume party consider becoming a little blue with an Avatar costume.

December is also bringing back Alvin and the Chipmunks. If you are looking for the perfect holiday costume Alvin just might fit the bill. This year the chipmunk costumes are ready and waiting for your holiday party. You can have Alvin costumes with the red shirt and A or you might choose Simon. Just don’t forget that furry look!

For a more stately costume you have one other idea. Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. is to be released on December 25th. The movie is bringing back the best detective in fictional history from the English writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. So grab your pipe, tweed jacket and get ready!

Every year there are two times when millions of people head to the movie theatres. Summer is always going to have big box office hits. This is when the students are out of school and looking for something to entertain them. The second time of year is November through December. There are plenty of holidays to share with family and see a movie, and of course in December there is at least one or two weeks where students are out of school.

This year Hollywood has definitely layered on the movies for November. You have several different topics to choose from like the end of the earth, children’s tales, and much more. Coming out November 6th, 2009 is the Box, Disney’s A Christmas Carol, The Fourth Kind, Men Who Stare at Goats, and Precious. The best costumes we can devise out of this set of movies would be from Disney’s A Christmas Carol. You have Scrooge costumes and Tiny Tim Costumes to go for. Although if you truly want to have some fun The Men Who Stare at Goats could offer some great costume ideas. Consider walking around in a goat costume with a sign that says “I’ve been stared to sleep!” Of course you can choose anything really, even having a military costume with a stuffed goat under your arm might be apropos.

The fun will not stop with today either. On November 13th plenty of other movies are to be released. There is 2012, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Pirate Radio, Dare, The Messenger, Oh My God, Uncertainty, and Women in Trouble. The biggest hit for costumes in this lot will be the Fantastic Mr. Fox. He is definitely a perfect Fox costume that offers humanistic qualities. For this you would need a fox costume like a mascot and even a Mrs. Fox.

November 20th, 2009 is what many have been waiting for. Twilight Saga: New Moon will be hitting theatres on this day. Already there have been a few vampires walking around in the last month, and now a plethora of vampire costumes might once again show up. But, Twilight is not the only movie to be offering us something a little fun for an upcoming costume party. Planet 51 brings Aliens of a different look to us. This time humans are again invading Alien lands with voices from The Rock and Jessica Biel adding to the hit. As the month continues we have Ninja Assassin, Old Dogs, and yet another Disney hit. This time children with November 25th birthdays will need a Princess costume and a Frog costume for The Princess and the Frog animated classic. This one has a new spin with it set in New Orleans!

The ’80s original centered on four Vietnam veterans who were framed for a crime they didn’t commit. They take the show on the road to evade the military police, helping out people along the way as they attempt to clear their names. In the original, Mr. T played B.A. Baracus (”B.A.” for “Bad Attitude”), the A-Team’s mechanic and muscle. George Peppard was Hannibal, the group’s cigar chomping leader who “love it when a plan comes together.” Dwight Schultz was “Howling Mad” Murdoch, the team’s resident loose cannon and Dirk Benedict was Templeton “Faceman” Peck, the group’s prettyboy and master of disguise.

While you gotta pity the fool that steps into Mr. T’s shoes, UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson just may have the mettle, muscle, and humor to bring it to the role of B.A. Baracus. (Anyone doubting Rampage’s sense of humor has to see this past week’s episode of Ultimate Fighter 10.) Rounding out the cast is Liam Neeson as grey-haired Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, and Sharlto Copely as Murdoch. Jessica Biel is also part of the cast, although what role she is playing has yet to be confirmed.

The plot sounds about the same as the original series, the only difference being the substitution of the characters being veterans of the first Gulf War as opposed to the Vietnam war. Hopefully, the A-Team van will be a part of the big screen adaptation, too! (Please don’t let Hannibal drive an SUV. Please.) The scheduled release date for the new A-Team is June 11, 2010.

Get a jump on putting together your A-Team costumes for next year. Grab a bunch of gold chains and a mohawk wig (try the Mr. Hammer version!) to pull together your own “Bad Attitude.” Or, for a John “Hannibal” Smith costume try a fake cigar, a short grey men’s wig, and a pair of black leather gloves. Don’t you just love it when a costume comes together?!

Director Louis Leterrier’s remake of Clash of the Titans stars Sam Worthington (Terminator: Salvation’s reluctant human/droid hybrid, Marcus as the hero Perseus and Liam Neeson as Zeus, King of the Gods. A new addition of Hercules as a main player with Ralph Fiennes (no stranger to fantasy films himself as Harry Potter’s arch-nemesis Voldemort) cast in the role of Hades, Lord of the Underworld.

The new version of Clash of the Titans’s description sounds as if it takes a detour from the legend of Perseus from classic mythology. In the film, Perseus’ family is killed by the evil Hades who plans to unleash his domain on Earth and usurp power from Zeus. Perseus attempts to avenge his family and rallies a group of heroes and gods to combat monsters and thwart Hades’ attempts to rule the world.

Although no photos of the infamous Medusa have surfaced, it has been confirmed that the serpentine she-demon will be in the film. Rumor has it that the design for this creature is something spectacular. Although the plot of Titans seems to have deviated from the original tale, die-hard classics fans would be up in arms with the omission of a key part of the story of Perseus.

Astroboy or Atom has been around for many years. He was created in 1952 as a Japanese Manga series and released on television in 1963. The story tells us of a boy robot who can help save the world through his abilities. Much of the robot character is humanized to make him seem like a real boy with special abilities.
Coming out on October 23, 2009 is a 3-D computer animated film based on this hero. Imagi Animation

Studios, the same that worked on TMNT will be providing the look and graphics of Astro Boy. The film has a top cast lending their voices to the characters including Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, and Kristen Bell. The plot will remain close to the original story, while giving us background on the hero. Astro Boy is going to be a newly created robot by Dr. Tenma. The good doctor feels he must replace his son that he lost. The robot unfortunately is unable to live up to the lost boy’s image. He leaves home and joins a rowdy group of kids where he meets Cora.

At this point he also finds himself in the world of robot gladiators. Eventually he returns home to find the evil president is a renegade giant robot who is trying to take over Metro City. It is up to our hero to save the day.

Like Superman costumes or Spiderman costumes, Astroboy Costumes will definitely be popular. A boy hero is one that we cannot resist. It doesn’t matter if it is Batman costumes or a robot hero like Astro Boy. The Astro Boy costume will certainly offer a different look for a hero this year. Much of his costume is red gloves and shoes with black pants. However, you can also opt for the blue shirt to go with the costume. The hair will be reminiscent of the 50’s, but nonetheless perfect for the hero costume.

Regardless of how you view the Tooth Fairy she or he traditionally deposits a quarter (or however much a tooth is worth now due to the cost of inflation) beneath the pillow of children who have lost a tooth. The kid puts their tooth under their pillow, and during the night, the Tooth Fairy swaps out the teeth in exchange for cash and prizes. Not a bad deal! (Too bad they don’t do that for adults!)

Due in theatres January 22, 2010, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson steps into the role of the Tooth Fairy. Banish any notion of frilly tutus. While he will have wings, The Rock’s version of the Tooth Fairy sports a much more masculine get up, as evidenced by the movie poster for the flick, although there are a few scenes with him sporting more traditional Tooth Fairy garb. The film’s premise focuses on a cocky minor-league hockey player who is famous for knocking out the teeth of opponents. When he gets busted by the REAL Tooth Fairy (Julie Andrews) for killing dreams, he is enrolled in a crash course in Tooth Fairy school — complete with wings and pastel blue tights!

Consider dressing as a traditional Tooth Fairy, or the Rock’s more sporty version, complete with knee pads and elbow pads for something unexpected!
