Custom plane paint matching Tron costume!

This is pretty funny… A guy name “Tron Guy” (see how he made his TRON costume) has purchased a plane with a custom paint to match his favorite costume… pretty cool huh?

tron guy plane

But could that become a trend?

I’d laugh pretty hard if I saw a car driving down the street with a custom “Papa Smurf” custom paint :)

Star Wars is back with a new movie!

clone wars game
Just when you thought it was safe… Wait, wrong film franchise.  This summer, Star Wars goes where the saga has not gone before (to mix another sci-fi metaphor), into an animated feature film hitting theatres on August 15, 2008.  “The Clone Wars” occupies the space between Episodes II and III of the new Star Wars trilogy and features all of the main characters in pixilated form, such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and even Jabba the Hutt.  Click here to check out the trailer for “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”

Rabid Star Wars fans will be happy to know that they’ll be able to get even more of a Force Fix on a weekly basis with a new Star Wars television series in the works.  The television series will focus on lesser-known characters in the Star Wars cannon instead of the Skywalkers, Solos, and other familiar faces.  This will make for a great opportunity to tell new stories without already-established outcomes that fans are well-educated on.  New characters will bring an air of suspense to the Star Wars saga and paint the extended universe in a richer, and wider scope.  Check here for more details on this new series.

Video Gaming and Costumes

With Grand Theft Auto 4 as the hottest game on the market right now, video games — no matter what your favorite choice of console may be — are bigger and gaining more media attention than ever.  Appealing not just to kids, but perhaps especially adults, video games are one of the leading recreational activities in the world.

With their own network, G4 TV and several major conventions, this unique form of media and fandom has captured the attentions and joysticks of millions.  While attending some of these conventions, many fans sport elaborate costumes of their favorite game characters.   One of the most elaborate of these costumes would be the collector’s edition of the Xbox franchise Halo’s main character, Master Chief, complete with a full suit of futuristic armor and a two-piece helmet and mask.

“21″ Sticks it to the Man! Casino-inspired Costumes

Based on a true story, “21″ hit theatres this week, telling the story of six MIT students who turned the tables on Vegas casinos using math and probability to beat the odds.  Heroes to everyone who has ever lost and lost big in Sin City or Atlantic City,  these students leveled the playing field, turning the crap tables on an industry designed to profit from patrons’ losses.  Check out the trailer for the film here.

Even if you can’t beat the system, cheer on the guys and gals who can by donning some casino costumes.  Score the look of a high roller with dollar trimmed accessories, or sit on the side of your favorite Sin City score-settlers as Lady Luck, clad in elegant head to toe green.    Make a statement with a One Armed Bandit costume.  Spruce up a slot machine costume with bandit accessories like a robber’s mask and a sack of “money.”.

Read Across America - Celebrate Dr Seuss with a Hat or a Costume!

dr seuss

I am not going to try to say it in my own words when the team at Seusville.com has done an great job at it!

What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday than reading to a child? On the evening of March 2nd (Dr. Seuss’s birthday), Random House and the National Education Association (NEA) urge you to participate in the second annual Read Across America and read to a child.WHY CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS?

Dr. Seuss epitomizes a love of children and learning. Also, his use of rhyme makes his books an effective tool for teaching young children the basic skills they need to be successful. When we celebrate Dr. Seuss and reading, we send a clear message to America’s children that reading is fun and important.

Amy Winehouse, Grammy Winner and possible costume idea?

amy winehouse

Sunday night, the Cadillac of music awards shows, the Grammys aired their 50th anniversary show, and by the time the dust had settled, Amy Winehouse walked away with five awards. Nominated in six categories, Winehouse’s wins included those in the categories of Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for her smash hit, “Rehab.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Amy Winehouse is a throwback to soulful R&B/Motown-era singers like Tina Turner, Martha Reeves, and Gladys Knight — women with a darker edge of hardened reality to their voices. A refreshing change of pace from candy-coated pop tarts, Winehouse offers heavy ’60s powerhouse soul vocals in a modern punk package. A fairly troubled soul, Winehouse’s inner demons forced her into the place she “no, no, no”-ed, namely rehab. Hopefully, Amy Winehouse kicks her addictions and continues putting out solid albums.

CostumZee V.2 is live!

new

It has been an incredible couple of weeks for the team at CostumZee.com. We finally have pushed live the new version V.2 of the website!

If you haven’t had a chance to browse the website, here are some of the new features and improvements we made:

  • A new design, a new logo! First of all, we have spent quite some time coming up with a clean look for the website, the design should allow you to better navigate and find what you are looking for.
  • The CostumZee Billboard: this is a new feature that we’re really excited to introduce. It will complement the top 100 popular costume ideas that has been one of the most used feature on the website but with the introduction of the billboard we are not able to separate popular vs bestselling costume ideas. We also added the billboard at the costume idea level, you can now easily see if a costume idea is popular or if it’s a has-been!
  • Community Driven: we added several features to let you, the users, help us to make CostumZee an even greater resource for costume ideas. Starting this week, any of our members can add a description to any costume idea, as well as adding links, photos and videos! Do you know a great website or blog that covers a costume idea, submit it! Do you have pictures or videos of yourself dressed in a costume? Find the costume idea page using the search in the header, and submit it! Check out the spiderman costume page for instance.
  • Who’s visiting: we added widgets all over CostumZee to show you who’s visiting the website. Don’t forget to add an avatar to your profile cause if you do not, you’ll get the generic shadow avatar :) It’ll take a second to do so and it will look a lot nicer!
  • Enhanced discussion forum: we have improved the forum and its functions to make it easier to use. You can also now browse the forum discussions by tag, by category or by search.
  • Earn points: you will get rewarded for your actions on CostumZee! Add a picture, a link, a video, a description, a discussion, a comment or simply signup and you will earn points. Even though the current rewarding system is purely symbolic, we might look into turning those points into real rewards! More about this later on this year.
  • Coupon codes and deals for our members: to thank you for being part of the CostumZee community, we are giving you access to coupon codes and shipping deals available at some of our online partners. We will make sure to list the latest offers and soon will integrate those savings directly at a product level to make it easier to save on your next costume purchase… stay tuned!
  • Spread the word about CostumZee - Help us grow! We are always looking to get known even more, so please DO NOT hesitate to share CostumZee with your friends and family. You can send an signup invite up to 3 people at a time using the Tell your Friends form.
  • Don’t miss any Holidays! We have added new sections: a Holiday and a Theme section. You will be able to keep track of upcoming Holidays and make sure you get your costume on time! We are also working on theme related sections such as the presidential candidates , cosplay and school plays.

And a lot more… Browse around, you’ll see it all! So how did we do? Is the new version of CostumZee easier to use? Is it missing features that you would like to see?
