The classic Capcom arcade game that saw its origins in the late ’80s, the Street Fighter franchise is poised to make a comeback big time in 2009. This past week, the video game Street Fighter IV was released to monster sales with gamers snapping it up for both Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. Incredibly rendered in terms of graphics and gameplay, Street Fighter IV features old favorite characters and some newer characters and bosses.

Also stoking the fire for Street Fighter-mania is the upcoming release of the new film, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. On tap for a February 27th release, the film stars Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk as the title character, one of the Street Fighter franchise’s most enduring characters. The plot centers around Chun Li’s quest for revenge for In addition to Chun Li, other characters from the games such as Balrog, Vega, and Bison are to be featured in the movie.
