Zhon "Animal Mortician" artist on DeviantArt&created this amazing&Tauntaun costume. Tautauns were introduced in Star Wars - pretty cool.

Tauntauns were a species of omnivorous reptomammals who were indigenous to the icy planet of Hoth. Tauntauns were commonly used as pack animals during the Rebel Alliance's stay at Hoth. Tauntauns were also used as patrol mounts when it was learned that the Rebel Alliance's own vehicles could not cope with the cold very well.

This is an incredible creation made for&BlizzCon 2011 by cosplayer&Avery Faeth.

The original seed of an idea for this costume was planted on July 27, 2010, and the final touches were placed on October 20, 2011. Of course I managed to squeeze about 175 of the 200 hours I cumulated working on this costume into the last month before BlizzCon -- most costume success stories contain at least a touch of procrastination! My costumes have grown considerably from year to year; but every time I show up at BlizzCon and see all the other amazing costumes out there, I push myself to do bigger and better next time.

I was playing with the new Youtube interface this morning and running some searches when i stumbled on a video from one of my favorite shows as a kid, Mr Bean.

In that Christmas episode Mr Bean is very excited about Christmas and in the process of stuffing his turkey, loses is watch inside the turkey. He then goes on to retrieve his precious watch by putting his entire head in the turkey and ends up stuck. It's a hilarious classic scene.

Next thing that comes to my mind is "someone must have made this costume"... so there you go, after some digging, i found a few pictures here, here and here from TOYCON 2010 where this guy attempted successfully to make the costume.

Alright People, next time you see a person running with a gas mask and some kind of bullet proof vest, don't get alarmed, it's just a guy training!

And I am not kidding.

San Jose police said the suspicious-looking jogger seen fidgeting with a package at a drop-off box was only working out in hard-core, albeit odd-looking, exercise gear. "The guy said he was wearing a cardio mask," said Sgt. Jason Dwyer. "It was his cardio day, and he was trying to lose weight." That's not what a post office customer thought when the man in the weird mask and vest was stuffing a package in a blue mail box about 12:30 p.m. The customer called police, and in a flash, the post office was on lockdown until 4:30 p.m., with 150 employees and customers tucked away in the back.

Seriously? Did this guy NOT think people would freak out or be alarmed?

As you can read in thecomments at Gizmodo, wearing a gas mask helps "to stimulate training at high elevation and the "armor" is nothing more than a weight vest."

"Nothing more"? LOL

How can anyone assume that this guy was training? Not everybody in the US knows about MMA gas mask training!!

A New Year's Eve tradition takes place in Akita (North of Japan) where local villages get visited by demons called Namahage.

Young children; lazy ones are often the blight of many parents’ existence. For the parents in Japan’s Oga Peninsula, Akita Prefecture in northern Honshu, Japan, there is a solution: the infamous Namahage; where an annual ritual takes place on the 31st of December. Dozens of young single men (traditionally) from various regions in Akita Prefecture, Japan dress like the Namahage demon. Each portrayer adorns an eerie demon mask (various colors depending on region), a straw raincoat and waistband and carries a scary tool made of wood depicting a knife/stick/ various weapon; and a pail. They re-enact the folklore dressed as these demons and march around the village in hopes of scaring prepubescent kids into total parental submission. Going door-to-door, they sweep the village threatening to drag any spoiled disobedient children. As the story goes, a child's lazy spirit (even lazy adults) that is disobedient is dragged into the snow covered mountains away from their parents. Knowing the story very well, upon barging into each home, the young children is immediately frightened by loud roars as they are chased, kids typically scream with agony and fear. This prompts parents to sooth their kids worries of being taken away by the Namahage, letting them know that they’ve been behaving.

We should do this in the US :)

They are called Namahage (生剥), which fittingly comes from the name for the burn you get if you are lazy and spend too much time under the heated tables, the kotatsu, in winter.

One of two known Cowardly Lion costumes worn by Bert Lahr in "The Wizard of Oz" is set to hit the auction block as part of a two-day auction on December 15 and 16, 2011, organized by Calabasas-based Profiles in History. Estimated to fetch between $2 million and $3 million, the costume was made using a real lion hide.

This was the super quick outcome of the main part of my Halloween costume for a costume party this year, it was put together in only a few days only using items I had around the house, including an old respirator, welding goggles, clear acrylic sheeting, leds, solder, various metal pieces, switches and wiring, and lots.. and lots.. of hot glue..the battery holders however were bought from radio shack.

The organizers of the 2011 Mexico City Zombie Walk claim that 9,600 participants dressed up as zombies marched the city on November 26th 2011.

If true, this means Mexico City will pick up the current world record for the highest number of people dressed as zombies.

Last year, 4,093 zombies showed up in New Jersey, so Mexico City has apparently doubled this previous record which is pretty amazing.

Who said Cosplay was only for kids?

Senior citizens of the Singapore Silver Cosplay Club participated in a contest for people over 50 years old.

The 27 members turned contestants and alongside grand sons and grand daughters, dressed up for the occasion. I think this is fabulous to see grand parents wanting to bound with their grand children over a passion that is cosplay.

I hope we see this more often, the Singapore Silver Cosplay Club had a great idea!

Kaylee Weinberg (AKA Animefreakkai) is pretty sewing-agile, she made this fantastic Malfatto costume and posted photos on her Cosplayer.com profile page.

Malfatto is a character from the video game "Assassin's Creed". In the game, he died in 1503 and was a member of the Templar Order, as well as a doctor notorious for killing courtesan.

This has been the longest and hardest costume that I have done to date. I started work on it when I first saw the design before the game actually came out. (almost a year ago) I just couldn’t resist doing such a cool plague doctor!

I’m 21, I have been casually cosplaying since San Diego Comic Con 2009. My first cosplay experience was nothing short of amazing and well…crazy!

I love gaming, reading comic books, watching anime, reading manga, watching movies of all sorts and SO MUCH MORE! I am an exercise nut. If I don’t get my exercise, I’m a huge jerk(Haha).
