About Xena

Xena is a fantasy character created for television. Xena: Warrior Princess was a spinoff from Hercules the Legendary Journeys. The character was first created in 1995 and ended as a show in 2001. Xena was played by the New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless. Many of the scenes in the shows were created in New Zealand, with a few trips to Ireland as well. The Xena character in the series was trying to make up for past wrongs. She was a warrior killing many in her younger years, but when she began to look for redemption after Hercules interference she decided to save anyone who needed it. Xena was considered the only daughter of a tavern keeper Cyrene. She grew up in Amphipolis with two brothers. During the show Xena meets a couple of friends, and one that works alongside her is Gabrielle.

Dressing up as Xena

Xena for the most part always has the same costume. The costume is a leather bustier and skirt, accentuating the curves of any who wear it. The leather is often covered by metal armor. To make the costume authentic you will want to have the same metal as shown in the series. These costumes are available online for those with a budget and in a couple of different sizes. The costume also has leather sandals or boots. You will have to add the circular boomerang and sword. You can also add a cloak for colder weather. Gabrielle, Hercules, Goddesses and Gods, Zeus, and other Greek Gods and Goddesses will make other costumes to choose from.
