About Wolfman

Although the concept had been done before in 1924, it was Lon Chaney, Jr's sympathetic portrayal of lycanthrope Larry Talbot in Universal's "The Wolfman" that put werewolves on the horror map. The 1941 film traces Talbot's return to his family's estate in England to console his grieving father, Lord John Talbot following the death of Larry's older brother. While there, Larry is bitten by a gypsy werewolf (given a similarly tragic and sympathetic portrayal by Bela Lugosi) and is subsequently cursed himself.

"The Wolf Man" is being remade with Benicio Del Toro cast in Chaney's star-making role and scheduled for an April 2009 release.

Dressing up as Wolfman

"Even a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers at night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the Autumn moon is bright." So the gypsy's poem goes about the process by which a man becomes a wolf.

It doesn't have to be that dramatic, however! Simply pull on a Wolfman mask or opt for the Wolfman FX kit to apply a convincing transformation into a lethal lycanthrope! Masks of high quality latex are available in the style made famous by Lon Chaney in the 1941 film, or other more fearsome styles similar to the wolves seen in The Howling are also available.

For an old school look, pair your wolfman or werewolf mask with a pair of navy blue pants and a navy blue workshirt buttoned to the top as seen in the original film. Don't forget a pair of werewolf hands or claws to make for an even more dramatic look!
