About Wasps

Considered a predatory insect, wasps are unique in their build possessing a stinger as well as two sets of wings -- forwings and hindwings made of a thin, membrane-like material. Although ants do not fly, they are related to the wasp, as are bees (who, unlike wasps, have fuzzy hair on their bodies). Certain types of parasitic wasps are being used to combat other types of insects that may harm crops.

Additionally, the term "wasp" has been co-opted as an acronym for "White Anglo Saxon Protestants," a snooty, upper-crust stereotype.

Dressing up as a Wasp
