About Waldo

Waldo or “Where’s Waldo” is a children’s book. The book is made up of illustrations only that cover the entire page. The concept was created by Martin Handford in the UK. The books where titled “Where’s Wally” in the UK and changed for US audiences. The point behind Wheres Waldo was to make a book unlike any other which would capture the attention of young children and work their minds. The premise is that Waldo is hiding somewhere on the page among the various other characters. These other characters like clowns or Egyptian people are doing some type of activity, and there is so much going on that Waldo is able to hide in the pages. Along with finding Waldo children can locate lost items he has with him like books, camping equipment, or shoes. The page usually asks the child to find what is missing. From the book series a TV series, comic strip, and video games were created. In the future a full length live action film will be released by one of the Hollywood studios.

Dressing up as Waldo

Waldo has a particular design, which can make a great children’s or adult costume. Waldo begins with a red and white striped long sleeved shirt. It is matched by a bobble hat in the same material. The Waldo costume has black round rimmed glasses, blue pants, and black shoes. The costume also requires a wooden walking stick and other accessories such as camping equipment. You can also have a dog along as there is one in the series.
