Depicting the goddess with flowing, ringleted hair rising out of the sea on a clamshell attended by the Zephyr (or West Wind), this is one of the most enduring works of art of all time.
Sometimes known by her Greek name, Aphrodite, Venus has long since inspired mortals to act upon their mating instincts... For better or worse.
