About '20s
A decade of decadence known as "The Roaring '20s," this period of time in the 20th century was characterized by a shift in social attitudes and change. Shrugging off the Victorian era, the 20s was a much more laid-back era with women trading in their high-necked, full-skirted dresses for the simple shifts and chemises of flapper style. Gentlemen partied hard, yet elegantly and such writers as {F. Scott Fitzgerald} and Ernest Hemmingway took prominence as scenester figures of the day. Things continued along swimmingly until the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression.
Dressing up 20s
Ladies have an assortment of fun flapper costumes to choose from to get that perfect Gatsby Girl look. Charleston the night away in a sassy bobbed wig, a look that's still new even today! Grab a cigarette holder and a fringed, sequinned, or fringed 20s dress. Add a beauty mark and red Cupid's bow lips for an authentic touch!
Gents can dress in true Roaring 20s style with a striped blazer and straw hat. Or get the look of a silent screen star with a Charlie Chaplin costume, complete with bowler hat and tiny mustache. Don't forget a cane to swing about
