A turban is a headpiece worn that consists of layers of wrapped fabric wrapped around itself or over an interior hat. The turban is worn by many different ethnic groups, but most commonly by members of the Indian religious sect known as the Sikhs who use it to cover their long hair that they do not cut as part of their religious practice. Residents of the Indian state of Rajasthan wear turbans as well, with the color and size of the turban indicating their social status or affiliation.
