About True Blood

The popular HBO series "True Blood" is based on author Charlane Harris' popular Sookie Stackhouse series of novels. One part drama, one part romance, one part horror, and one part pure camp, "True Blood" gained a massive following and is already in its second season on HBO. The show (and books) follow a cute, blonde 20-ish telepathic waitress, Sookie Stackhouse, in the Louisiana town of Bon Temps (French for "good time"). In the context of "True Blood," vampires are "out of the coffin" and have told the world that they exist, mingling freely among humans with some electing to drink synthetic TruBlood, a blood substitute instead of human. Sookie falls in love with a centuries old vampire, Bill Compton. He's not the only vamp who digs her, since Viking vamp Eric Northman also has strong feelings for her. Other monsters, shapeshifters, maenads -- and oh, yeah, humans -- round out the colorful cast of characters.

Dresing up as True Blood

Choose to dress as some of your favorite characters from True Blood, using a number of costumes and accessories to craft your own. A simple (yet tight) white t-shirt, black shorts, blonde wig, and green apron can transform you into Sookie Stackhouse. Swap out the blonde wig for a red wig, and you can dress as the good-natured, hard luck Merlotte's waitress, Arlene. Gentlemen can pop in a pair of fangs to get suited up as Bill Compton or Eric Northman. For a vintage (read: "ancient") Eric Northman costume, costume yourself as a bloodied Viking with a long blonde wig and some fangs! Another fun choice can be Mary Ann, Bon Tempes resident maniacal maenad with a flowy dress in bright colors, a long brown wig with bangs... And some claw hands or a minotaur mask or bull mask to become Mary Ann mid-transformation!

Season 2 of "True Blood" is winding to a close and things in the town of Bon Temps have gotten crazier and crazier since the arrival of Maryann Forrester.
