The age old question is- is the tomato a fruit or a vegetable. The reason many get confused is because of the definition of the two. For fruit it is typically something that is on a flowering plant. A vegetable tends to grow with its roots in the ground like carrots. The flowering part of the carrot or green stem is what shows above the ground. Still a tomato is actually a vegetable. The fruit of this vegetable will ripen to yellow or red. The species of tomato will determine the color it turns out to be. The stem is usually very week with perennial flowers. Tomatoes are used to make ketchup. The tomatoes are left to rot until they are easily smashed to get the liquid out of them. Tomatoes are native to South America and Central Mexico. The word tomato even comes from the Nahuatl language. Tomatoes were discovered in 500 BC at least according to records.

Dressing up as Tomato

Tomato costumes will not vary a great deal, but you do have different options. For example Veggie Tales Bob is a tomato costume from the popular children’s shows. This costume has a round plush upper body with large white eyes and a great smile. To cap it off is the green stem hat. A pant suit should be worn with the costume. Other tomato costumes are for adults. They will be less anthropomorphic with a simple green stem hat and round body.
