About Tina Turner

Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush Flats, TN, Tina Turner is known as "The Queen of Rock and Roll." She got her start singing with her then-husband, R&B singer Ike Turner on such hits as "Proud Mary" and "River Deep, Mountain High." Following an abusive relationship with Ike, Tina was divorced from Turner and went solo, scoring a mega-hit with her 1984 debut album, "Private Dancer" which featured such hits as the title cut, "Better Be Good to Me," and "What's Love Got to Do With It." This comeback debut album set her on a path to superstardom and Tina found herself acting in film, as well as performing onstage. Known for her powerful voice, great legs, and the ability to still dance the night away well into her 60s, Tina Turner has been established not only as a real-life survivor, but as the solo performer with the most concert tickets sold in history.
