About Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The film that introduced Leatherface and his family to the world, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was a 1974 film that gave a gritty shot in the arm (before it sawed it off) to the horror industry. Loosely based on serial killer Ed Gein who was fond of building household decorations out of the bones of his victims, the film was directed by the legendary Tobe Hooper and centered on a group of hapless young adults who travel into off-the-beaten-path territory on a road trip in Texas. They come across an old farmhouse where the cannibalistic Leatherface and his family eagerly await "fresh meat." The film revolves around the teens attempting to escape from the brutal family with their lives. The film was recently remade and still featured the stylistic, gritty, sepia-tinted grainy film quality on the color production.
