About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

They originally began their lives as a bunch of abandoned pet store turtles who were accidentally tossed into a sewer. Upon making contact with toxic ooze, these "heroes in a halfshell" became known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Trained by their master, Splinter, a giant rat with martial arts skills, the Ninja Turtles grew to be a crimefighting team, all named after Renaissance painters: Raphael, Michaelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo. Each of the turtles had their own distinct personalities and weapon skills which they utilized to take out the evil underworld crime syndicate, the Foot led by the Shredder. The turtles had a few human allies, namely, the hockey mask-wearing vigilante, Casey Jones, and news reporter April O'Neil.
