About Teddy Roosevelt

Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States and was born on October 27th, 1858. Prior to becoming president, Teddy Roosevelt held a number of jobs and interests. He was the Governor of New York and an explorer, soldier, historian, and naturalist -- a true renaissance man! The classic toy that became known as a "teddy bear" got its name from his fondness for hunting expeditions. What Roosevelt is most known for and solidified his reputation was as a "Rough Rider", commanding the Volunteer Calvalry Regiment during the Spanish American War.

Teddy Roosevelt has been depicted in popular culture in plays like "Arsenic and Old Lace" and played most recently by Robin Williams in "A Night At the Museum."
