About Sweeney Todd

Once a mild-mannered barber with a beautiful wife and baby girl, Benjamin Barker invoked the attention of a corrupt judge who wanted his wife for his own. Falsely imprisoned, Barker returned to London after his incarceration, seeking revenge on those who wronged him. Beliving his wife to have been dead and still seeking his daughter, he was a hardened man and took on the name and identity of Sweeney Todd. While in London, he teamed up with Mrs Lovett, his landlady and partner-in-crime. Lovett's meat pies, which once were "the worst in all of London" became a delicacy once she and Sweeney disposed of the bodies of his victims by making them into meat pies.

The story of Sweeney Todd has been told in literature, on Broadway, in ballet, and most recently on film with Tim Burton's retelling of the classic tale of the "Demon Barber of Fleet Street," who was played by Johnny Depp.

Dressing up as Sweeney Todd

Start with a Sweeney Todd wig of wild, bushy black hair streaked with white to look almost exactly like Johnny Depp's portrayal of the brutish barber!
