About Star Trek
Having gone where no man had gone before, producer Gene Roddenberry became a hero to science fiction fans everywhere when he created the original Star Trek television series. Having ran from 1966 to 1969, the original series went boldly where no series had gone before with Captain James T. Kirk and his crew. One of the breakaway characters of the series was the highly logical half-human, half-Vulcan second-in-command, Spock.
Although the series only lasted three years, it was wildly popular in syndication. Nearly 20 years Star Trek mania kicked in again with the creation of a new television series, Star Trek The Next Generation with an all new crew. Several other series -- and movies -- followed with the Original and Next Gen cast. Things are still going strong with the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek film soon to be released and the sci-fi fanatic-themed film, "Fanboys" which focuses on Star Trek among other fantasy fandoms.
Dressing up as Star Trek
Whether you're headed to a science fiction or comic con, here's some Star Trek costumes you'll go out of your Vulcan mind for! Put on some pointed Spock ears and an old-school style blue Star Trek uniform or collectors' edition Spock mask. If you're feeling like taking charge, dress up as either Captain Kirk or the Next Generation's noble Captain Jean-Luc Picard with either a bald cap or mask and a Star Trek captain's uniform. Explore alien races with the option of a Cardassian mask or assimilate with The Borg. Movie-quality Star Trek uniforms are available in all colors and ranks (including separate Star Trek communicator badges. Just stay away from the red shirt!
