About Squirrel

Scrat and Rocky are two of the most well known animated squirrels. Rocky comes from the animated cartoons the Rocky and Bulwinkle Show. In this television series Rocky is a gray squirrel that can fly. He wears a flying helmet complete with goggles. Scrat is a prehistoric squirrel that has appeared in all three Ice Age films. Scrat has very long and sharp teeth, and a penchant for trying to hide his acorn. Of course these two lively fictional creatures are based on a real mammal. Squirrels are of the rodent family. You have tree squirrels, flying squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, fox squirrels, gray squirrels, and the American red squirrel. Squirrels can live in cool or warm climates, typically in deciduous forests. They will eat berries, nuts, seeds, conifer cones, fungi, and green vegetation. Some may even eat insects, eggs, small birds, snakes, and other small rodents. Squirrels will create nests for their young in the autumn months in anticipation for the spring.

Dressing up as Squirrel

Besides Rocky and Scrat costumes you have mascot squirrel costumes. All of the costumes you can find for adults or children will have the same style. The differences will be in the colors of the costume, whether they have shirts or other accessories. For example the mascot Squirrel is going to have a plush jumpsuit with feet and hands. It will come with a bushy squirrel tail and the squirrel head. The head is a complete face that covers the entire head. It has squirrel features. For children you could have the squirrel ears and furry head, without covering the face. The mascot usually has a shirt that has the school colors and name on it. You could also have a cowboy hat or even the flying helmet like Rocky as accessories. If you have squirrels you probably need chipmunks like Alvin or Dale. You might even consider Mickey Mouse as another costume to go along with your squirrel.
