About Space
Space -- the final frontier -- is the term commonly used to refer to the vast universe and the different galaxies and planets that comprise it. No one can know for sure just how far outer space stretches, and so far, no one has traveled outside of the Milky Way Galaxy, of which Earth is a part of. Space travel became popular in the 1950s and '60s with both the United States and the former Soviet Union (now known as Russia) engaged in a "Space Race" to see which country would launch an astronaut (or as the Russians dubbed them, "cosmonauts") into space or land on the moon. On October 4th, 1957, the Soviets launched their satellite Sputnik into space. The Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first man sent into space in 1961 and American Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon in 1969.
Dressing up in Space costumes
Space has always fascinated mankind, from the science of astronomy centuries ago to people actually orbiting in and discovering space. Dress as an astronaut with a white, silver, or orange jumpsuit and of course, a full-coverage over-the-head astronaut helmet. If that's not your cup of tea, perhaps a martian costume will do the trick, dressed as a Grayling space alien with an oversized alien mask in either grey or green.
Or, travel into fictional hyperdrive with space costumes based on sci-fi and futuristic life in space from the uber-popular Star Trek to the cartoon family of the future, The Jetsons. Or, climb aboard the Milennium Falcon dressed as Star Wars pilots Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.
