About Soda Jerk

Although the name sounds like a grade school insult, a Soda Jerk was a staple of '50s diner and malt shoppe scenes. Characterized by a paper hat and a short-sleeved white shirt adorned with a bow-tie, the Soda Jerk worked the soda fountain, serving up lemon phosphates, chocolate egg creams, and all manner of fizzy delights to patrons.

Dressing up as a Soda Jerk

Gentlemen can make a simple 50s Soda Jerk costume with a paper diner waitress hat, a pair of white pants, a white short-sleeved button-down shirt, and a bowtie in either red or black. Bust out a tray of carbonated beverages and you'll be a big hit with guests!

Ladies can pull off a colorful look with a {50s car hop) waitress uniform with a flirty, flared skirt in either bubblegum pink or bright pink accented with black and white. Unless you're very coordinated, roller skates are optional!
