About Sleeping Beauty

A favorite fairy tale and bedtime story for centuries as told originally by Charles Perrault, "Sleeping Beauty" was made into a ballet with a score by Tchaikovsky in 1890 and later given the big-screen treatment in 1959 thanks to the Walt Disney animated film. "Sleeping Beauty" tells the tale of the lovely Princess Aurora who is both cursed and blessed by fairies at her birth. The evil fairy Maleficent who was not welcome to the King's court, condemned the princess to prick her finger on a spindle and die on her 16th birthday. This course was softened by the Princess' three fairy godmothers -- Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather -- that Aurora would not die, just sleep until awakened by true love's first kiss.

Dressing as Sleeping Beauty

Several beautiful costumes, mostly based on the Disney version of Sleeping Beauty are available in sizes to fit adults and children. Each authentically licensed Sleeping Beauty costume features Aurora's lovely pink ballgown worn on her 16th birthday, gorgeously detailed with a flowing skirt and fitted bodice, as well as a princess's crown. For a darker touch, there are also imposing costumes based on the Disney imagining of the evil fairy Maleficent.
