About Silver Surfer

In Marvel Comics, the Silver Surfer is the galaxy-traveling herald of Galactus, the Eater of Worlds. The character made his debut in Fantastic Four #48 in 1966, created by the legendary Jack Kirby. Once a young astronomer from the planet Zenn-La, Norrin Radd struck a deal with the ravenous Galactus to spare his homeworld. In exchange, he would travel throughout the galaxies on his space-surfboard, searching for suitable planets for Galactus to devour and to announce the being's arrival as he prepares to chow down on a new planet. He was placed in Galactus' servitude for an unspecified amount of time, after which he could return to Zenn-La and his beloved fiance, Shala Bal. Upon meeting the Fantastic Four on Earth, which Galactus intends to claim as his dinner, the Silver Surfer wants out of his contract, which prompts Galactus to confine him to Earth with an invisible barrier that affects only him.

It may be hard to track down an officially licensed Silver Surfer costume, with many of them snapped up and consumed by comic book fans the way Galactus would consume a world and several moons for a hearty, cosmic brunch.
