About Sideburns

Named for the American Civil War General, Ambrose Burnside who wore made this style of facial hair famous, sideburns refer to the hair that extends from the temple to the jawline without a beard in the middle to connect them. They can be worn thick or narrow, straight down or sculpted with razor and scissor to form patterns. A popular style of sideburn is known as the "mutton chop" or "pork chop" sideburn, in which the hair at the temple is narrower than the hair grown on the jawline, forming a "porkchop"-like tuft of hair.
