About Shakespeare
Shakespeare is William Shakespeare famous poet and playwright. Shakespeare lived from 1564 to 1616. Shakespeare was an Englishman. He wrote for the Globe Theatre, and many times the Queen attended his plays. He was known for his adaptations of history such as Richard the Third. However, he is most well known for Romeo and Juliet. That is the most famous play which has been retold in a variety of different ways. Twelfth Night, A Midsommer Nights Dream, Othello, and Hamlet were other works. He was very comedic in several of his plays, as well as using fantasy. Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon, and even had a wife. They had children. He was however, considered somewhat of a lady’s man spending much of his time in London with other woman.
Dressing up as Shakespeare
Shakespeare lived during the 16th century which means any costume you choose to appear as Shakespeare will be patterned after this time in history. You will need to dress in a tunic of fine cloth, with hose, a feather in your hat, and shoes typical off the era. The hose can be tan or black. They should reach the knees. From there white socks would need to meet the hose. The tunic should be blue with white puffed sleeves, and a belt to cinch it at the waist. During this time period high collars were imperative, so the costume would need a white ruffled collar. Adult costumes are most popular when dressing shakespearean. You can choose to be Anne, his wife, or have Juliet as an accompanying costume.
