About Santa Claus

He goes by many names: St. Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, or his most common one, Santa Claus. He lives in the North Pole with his wife, {Mrs. Claus} where he supervises a troop of toymaking elves. Every 24th of December, Santa hitches up his sleigh with eight reindeer (plus Rudolph!) to deliver presents to good children all over the world. Santa may have his origins in the historical figure of St. Nicholas, a Greek bishop in the 4th century who gave wonderful gifts to the poor of his home city of Myra. Additionally, the story of St. Nicholas parallels closely with the mythology of the Dutch and Netherlands around the Norse god Odin, who rode an eight-legged horse named Slepnir and had a long, white beard who rewarded good children and punished bad.
