About Rooster

Hearing “Cock a doodle doo” in your head? Well, if you are thinking about roosters you might have that going through your head! Or you might be picturing Warner Bros. cartoons with Foghorn Leghorn. A rooster is a type of bird or male chicken. The rooster is going to watch over the hens. Usually there is one rooster per hen house. The roosters will stand guard, wake up the farm in the morning, and be polygamous. The hens at the farm will reside in the nest taking care of the eggs. The rooster will even occasionally stay with the eggs, especially if there are young males on the scene that have not yet reached maturity. A rooster will look out over his flock by being four to five feet off the ground. They have a distinctive alarm call, which they will use when someone approaches the hen house or when predators are in the area. The rooster is the prettier part of the species. It is up to the male to look pretty in order to gain the hens attention. Roosters are primarily used on farms, but in the earlier centuries cock fights were put on for gambling. Two roosters would be in the ring and people would bet on which rooster would win.

Dressing up as Rooster

Choose your rooster! You have mascot costumes, Foghorn Leghorn, and plenty of other rooster costumes for adults and children. Many of the rooster costumes are meant as mascots which mean they are for adults or teenagers. These costumes will have the same style bodysuit. It is the color of the feathers that make the costumes different. For example with Foghorn Leghorn you would have a white body suit with a brown feather tail, reddish feet, and white wings. To accompany the costume is a head with brown feathers, the red neck, red top, yellow beak, and rooster eyes.
