About Ronald McDonald

One of the most recognized figures worldwide (second only to Santa Claus, Ronald McDonald is the cheerful clown mascot for the McDonald's fast food franchise. With his bright red hair, yellow jumpsuit and striped red and white socks with oversized clown shoes Ronald McDonald has been spreading goodwill worldwide since 1963. Ronald McDonald was originally portrayed by television personality and former Today show weatherman, Willard Scott. Over the years, many actors have donned clown makeup to play Ronald, McDonald's "Chief Happiness Officer." In addition to shilling hamburgers on commercials, Ronald is also known for his charity work, visiting sick children in the chain of Ronald McDonald Houses across the country which allow parents of sick children to stay overnight.
