About Roman Warrior

A Roman warrior is an individual who lived during the Roman Empire. The Western Roman Empire reigned from 286 to 476 with the Eastern Roman Empire lasting from 330 to 1453 AD. The Roman Empire was one of great power ruling much of the world at the time. They had holdings in Europe, the Mediterranean, and through what is now considered India. They had a far reach with Augustus as one of the most prevalent Roman rulers. The Roman Empire was also ruled by Caesars. The film Gladiator is based on the Roman Empire, the corruption and the reasons for their rule. A Roman warrior or Roman soldier belonged to the army of Rome, under the control of the Roman Emperor. To be a Roman Warrior you may have been enlisted as a slave. The army was also formed by trusted guards of the Emperor like the Praetorians.

Dressing up as Roman Warrior

If you wish to be a Roman warrior you will have much to choose from for your costume. For a Gladiator you will need to be dressed in a tunic, with Roman Sandals, a shield and weapon. Gladiators could also have armour. The most traditional Roman warrior is the one belonging to and fighting in the army. This individual would need to have a tunic covered by fake armour with a Roman chestplate, leather skirt, Roman sandals, sword, Roman shield, and the Roman helmet. A Roman helmet covers the face with a red brush on the top.
