About Roman Sandals

The Romans needed to have some type of shoe. Since they lived in a warmer climate much of the footwear was Roman sandals. This is just a different style of sandal then we have today. The sandals can finish a Roman costume to make it more authentic. The sandals were typically designed with leather soles, then leather straps up the calf to just below the knee. Some of the sandals also had a back plating of leather for more support.

Dressing up as Roman Sandals

Roman sandals are the perfect costume accessory needed when you want to be a Roman Soldier or Marc Antony. Roman Sandals also work with costumes like Cleopatra. The sandals found here are brown, and will vary in design. Some of the Roman sandals resemble the aforementioned style above. They are made with brown cloth, have a backing for support, and then straps. Other sandals wrap around the leg rather than keep their support. Most often the Roman sandals for costumes are not made with leather, but a polyurethane to make them fit within all budgets.
