About Rocker

The term rocker actually comes from the United Kingdom. In Britain rockers are a subculture, which was started in the 1960s. Rockers were considered motorcyclists. In America referred to Rockers as greasers, rockabillies, teddy boys, and punks. Today rocker as a term is less used and in its place are mods or skinheads. Rockers are known for their fashion and music. Most rockers favored rock and roll, they could even be in a band. Many consider a rocker to be a rock star like those in heavy metal bands.

Dressing up as Rocker

A rocker has distinct styles that set them apart from other groups. For example a Mohawk was often used to show a person’s musical and fashion interests. You would need a Mohawk for your costume. Leather is also a constant part of the costume especially in rock and roll or heavy metal. Leather pants and jackets are part of the costume. A tee shirt under the jacket with a biker symbol or metal band is appropriate. You might also want leather gloves, combat boots, and instead of a Mohawk long hair. Do not forget your guitar or drum sticks.
