About Princess Tiana

Princess Tiana is a character from Disney’s new movie The Princess and the Frog. The film will be released in theatres in December 2009. This new film is a little different than others from Disney in recent years. The studio is going back to hand drawn animation. This means that it will be a lot like Mulan, Snow White, and even the Little Mermaid. The concept of the film is based on Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans in the French Quarter. The time period is during the height of the Jazz Age of the 1920’s. The Frog Prince Naveen was turned into a frog because of a evil voodoo magician called Dr. Facilier. Tiana meets the frog, and he tries to convince her to kiss him in order to break the curse. She is most reluctant since he is after all a frog.

Dressing up as Princess Tiana

Costumes for Princess Tiana are going to be everything a little princess will want. The costume is designed with a mint green dress, a layered skirt, and headpiece or crown to match the costume. The dress is green with white gosamer layers, which might remind you of a lily pad design. You will have to find your own shoes for the costume. Currently sizes are regulated to children, but there are three different designs. While the shape and the style of the dress is the same the length of the skirt varies. You have a mid knee length, mid calf length, and the full skirt that meets the ankles. When choosing your costume don’t forget to check out the Frog Prince if you need a second costume or want to make it a couples creation.
