About Princess Rosella

In the animated, direct-to-DVD feature, Barbie plays the Island Princess, Rosella. As a baby girl, Ro was shipwrecked on an island and raised by her animal companions. She has know memory of her life before the crash, although a handsome prince named Antonio discovers her island and brings her and her animal friends back to his kingdom of Apollonia to discover the world of humans. Although Antonio is in love with Ro, his father has arranged for him to marry Luciana, daughter of the wicked Ariana who plots to kill the royal family and usurp the throne for herself. With the aid of her pets Tika the Elephant, Azul the Peacock, and Sagi the Red Panda, Ro discovers her own royal roots as Rosella and helps thwart Ariana's evil plot.

Dressing up as Princess Rosella

Little girls and Barbie fans alike can recreate their favorite scense from the original direct-to-video fairy tale featuring Barbie as "The Island Princess." The Princess Rosella costume comes complete with a beautiful sky blue satin-look dress with long bell sleeves and purple scrollwork on the sleeve hem and inset portion of the dress's skirt. Pale purple chiffon accents are added at the neckline and as a peplum above the long skirt. Additional detailed features include a Barbie brooch cameo on the neckline of the dress and a fan of irridescent peacock "feathers" made of shimmering fabric to stand up behind the costume. Also included is a princess tiara to match!
