About Princess Bride

Princess Bride is a 1973 novel by William Goldman that was also turned into a film in 1987. The film was directed by Rob Reiner and starred Cary Elwes as Wesley and Dread Pirate Roberts. The tale starts with Princess Buttercup and Wesley falling in love, but soon he leaves to get a start for them as a family, falling victim supposedly to pirates. A few years later Princess Buttercup is in the hands of Prince Humperdinck who wishes to wed her. It is then we find out that Wesley is not dead and with Inigo Montoya and Fezzick Wesley tries to stop the Prince from marrying Buttercup. Fezzick was played by Andre the Giant in the film.

Dressing up as Princess Bride

Buttercup wore a medieval style dress in the movie making it the perfect costume to be the Princess Bride. It will be an elaborate costume with a ring of flowers for the crown. There are children and adult sizes available in the costumes. You have plenty of other choices for princesses such as Princess Aurora, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast. A Pirate costume or even Zorro will work well for the Dread Pirate Roberts in the film for guys. The pirate costumes come in children to adults as well.
