About Princess Anastasia

Princess Anastasia or the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia was born in 1907 and died in 1918. For several years it was thought that Anastasia was still alive past 1918; however recent forensic studies have determined she died with the rest of her family when they were killed during an upheaval. Anastasia was the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra Fyodorovna. The war waging during her life was brought on by the Bolshevik’s. The Bolshevik secret police murdered the entire family of the Tsar, which also made them the last Tsar’s of Russia. The rumors mentioned above that Anastasia was still alive were made because her burial was unknown for many decades. A mass grave was found with the Tsar, his wife, and three of the daughters in 1991; however Anastasia, Alexi, and Maria were not in the same grave. In 2008 Russian scientists examined remains found in Ekaterinburg in 2007. They were proven to be Anastasia. The story of Anastasia provoked two movies based on the rumors that she was alive. The first starred Ingrid Bergman, and the other was a Disney film released in 1997.
