A sword was a neccessity for seafaring pirates. When terrorizing the seven seas and hijacking cargo vessels, no pirate was without an intimidating blade. And should one pirate meet yet another pirate nemesis, a sword was a must-have for throwing down in a duel! Some of the most popular swords used by pirates were the thin, yet sharp rapier with a cage-like hilt that secured over the fist making it harder to knock the sword out of the weaponmaster's hand in combat. Another popular pirate sword was the cutlass, a much more substantial blade with a long, thick, curved blade and a cupped or basket-shaped guard on the hilt which also prevented the sword from being removed from the wielder's hand.

Haargh, matey! Don't go anywhere without a good piece o' steel in yer belt buckle if ye intend to dress as a pirate. Choose from a number of fine blades to compliment yer cutthroat ensemble. The officially licensed Pirates of the Caribbean sword is made to look like it had been covered in barnacles, mottling the surface of the metallic-look plastic, a great accompaniment to a Davy Jones costume. More streamlined pirate swords include a pirate cutlass or a rapier, which can double for a Musketeer costume.
