About Pharoah

A pharoah is a title given to ancient Egyptian rules. Most pharaohs existed in the 28th dynasty, but they also lived for many periods before and around that time. The word means Great House. Pharaoh could mean a male or female ruler, though most rulers were male. At some point during the reign of the Pharaohs they were thought to be reincarnations of great people like Horus or Osiris. The Pharaohs were people like Nefertiti and King Tut. When they died they were buried in tombs with magnificent paintings and all their treasures. They were also mummified.

Dressing up as Pharoah

Dressing up as a Pharaoh you have a couple of options. You can be a mummy Pharoah. You could also dress as King Tut or Nefertiti. King Tut would have been dressed in a sarong style robe around the waist, which would be multicolored and to the knees. There would also be a gold or intricately made belt around the waist and hanging in the front. The belt would be just as long as the skirt. The rest of the body would be bare except for two ankle bracelets, two wrist bracelets, two upper arm bracelets, an intricate necklace, and then the headpiece. The headpiece would often be grand with a crown. A staff may also be carried to complete the costume.
