About Phantom of the Opera
Phantom of the Opera is the longest running Broadway production. Many don’t realize that the story of Phantom of the Opera was first a series of short stories based on real events at the Paris Opera House. Gaston Leroux was the original writer of The Phantom of the Opera. It was not a very popular story when it was first released in 1909. It was not adapted to English until 1911, but even so the book was out of print several times during the 20th century. There have been several film adaptations of the novel and of course the Broadway production. The character Phantom of the Opera is based on tales that a true opera house ghost existed in the Paris Opera House. The Phantom of the Opera was named Erik in the book a man disfigured since birth that was a little mad despite his musical genius.

The costume of the Phantom of the Opera is rather simplistic depending on which affectations you would like to have. There is the regular costume you see the character in for most of the play and then of course the Masquerade costume.
