Patriotism is a word that describes a feeling of pride for one's country. Patriotism, as it pertains to America, stems from the name given to the soldiers during the revolutionary war of 1776, known as Patriots. Their military uniforms were done in the colors of red, white, and blue -- the same colors that appear on the American flag.
