About Owls

Nocturnal birds of prey belonging to the order "strigiform," owls hunt small mammals like mice, insects, and other birds. They possess a distinctive appearance with wide eyes surrounded by feathers in a circular pattern and flat faces with a hawklike beak. They vocalize and communicate with "hoots" and "who"s on a lower register. Owls can be found on nearly every continent of the world, although there are a number of different speecies. Some of the most rare breeds of owls are the Northern Spotted Owl and the white Snowy Owl.
