About the Nose

It's as plain as the nose on your face! Okay, maybe the nose isn't all that simple. Equiped with two nostrils, a variety of olfactory neurons, sinuses, membranes, mucuous and other fun stuff, the nose not only serves to aid living creatures in the sense of smell, but also assists with their sense of taste. Sitting smack dab in the middle of a human face, it also gives the face a bit of character!

Famous celebrities or fictional characters with large or famous noses include Pinocchio, Cyrano de Bergerac, and singer/actor Jimmy Durante.

Dressing up as/with a Nose

A good character nose is key for characters like Disney's Pinnochio or Cyrano de Bergerac. A long, faux proboscis for each of these characters is available and held in place either with spirit gum or with an invisible elastic. Several marionette costumes are on hand in adult and children's sizes with appropriate puppet strings adorning the costume for a Pinocchio style outfit. For Cyrano, a men's Renaissance costume with pantaloons and a plumed hat in a bold color would serve well to recreate the look of the French poet.

Or maybe you'd prefer to get in touch with your "animal instinct" with a good animal character nose? Try a pig nose for a comedic effect for almost any sort of costume you can think of, be it animal, or even if you choose to go as the portly (and completely insane) Emperor Nero of ancient Rome. A pig nose is always a fun addition to a costume!
