About Neon Genesis Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion or Eva is a Japanese Anime released in 1995. It later appeared in the US on the Cartoon Network. It is an extremely popular series with an apocalyptic message throughout the series. The series begins with a Second Impact that occurs in 2000, which almost destroys most of the human race on Earth. Nerv is the sight were the Eva’s were created, and a lot of their facility was damaged. Ten years later the story truly begins where we meet the paramilitary organization called Nerv in Japan. Shinji Ikari has been summoned by his father to the facility. He is currently 14 years of age. He joins Nerv, albeit he doesn’t really want to. It is here he meets Rei Ayanami and they use the Angels to battle alien entities. Throughout the series other pilots are met, but none have the skill Shinki has. The Eva’s or angels work by integrating with the pilots nervous system to make their reaction time quicker. At the end of the show many of the pilots self terminate their machines when they learn what Nerv is really planning. A movie was created to answer a lot of the questions the TV series left unanswered.

Dressing up as Neon Genesis Evangelion

There are a couple of options when it comes to dressing up as an Eva pilot. You have Shinji or Rei depending on what character you like best. Most costumes fit adults or children. For Rei you would need a schoolgirl outfit of a black skirt, white short sleeve shirt, and tan vest. You would also need a red tie, and cosplay wig. For Shinji you might have black pants, and a military style jacket or schoolboy costume typical of the Japanese anime style. You can go to greater lengths and create your own Eva costume, like the Red Suit Shinji used in the anime.
