About Native American

Native Americans are the people were once known as Indians. They are a people who were born on American soil rather than coming from Europe first. Many of the Native American groups were forced on to reservations were some still live. There are pockets like the Native Alaskans that still live on the land of their ancestors. We have always been fascinated by the Native Americans history as well as their culture, and in fact we learned quite a bit from them.

Dressing up as Native American

Our interest in the Native American culture has also created our need for Halloween costumes patterned after the historical clothing they used to wear. You have several Native American costumes to choose from whether you are a female or male. There are also children’s costumes that can add to the collection. Most Native American costumes are going to be made of faux leather with faux fur, as that is the traditional costume. The men have either short pants or long pants with a tunic like top. The women can find dresses or skirts for the costumes. The main part is not all the costume will have. Most Native Americans used feathers, quartz, and other jewelery native to the land so adding these touches will help complete the costume. For men the head dresses are elaborate with many feathers. For babies there are even bunting costumes created on the traditional wrappings. Some men or boys like to add to the costume by having weapons like the hunting knife or tomahawk.
