About Mummies

Through an elaborate process using herbs and an ancient process which may be all but forgotten, ancient civilizations preserved their dead by a process known as "mummification." Often wrapped head to toe in bandages, the Egyptians are perhaps the most widely known culture who preserved their dead in this manner. Usually reserved for kings, queens, and rulers, mummies were often interred in mammoth structures known as pyramids as part of the ritual to ensure their immortality in the After Life.

Dressing as a Mummy

Sure, you could probably spend a fortune in gauze bandages at your local drugstore, but the possibility of a wardrobe malfunction certainly wouldn't make it worth it. You can achieve the look of an ancient mummy who just crawled out of his (or her!) tomb with some great, ready-to-wear mummy costumes. For a look straight out of the classic horror film, there is an officially licensed Mummy mask featuring the visage of the legendary Boris Karloff as Ardeth Bey in full mummy mode from the Universal pictures classic. Other full mummy costumes for men and women include dresses or jumpsuits with the look of unravelling bandages in one secure piece. For the ladies, there are even some sexy mummy costumes that feature some strategically placed bandages without the potential for any mummified malfunctions of the wardrobe.
