* Kimono * Fan * Black Slippers * Hair Elastics (Optional) * White or Tan Leggings (Optional) * Make-up (optional) 1. If Choosen put on leggings first. 2. Put on Kimono 3. Put on Black Slippers 4. About Mulan

Mulan came to the forefront in American society with the release of Disney’s Mulan animated film. The film starred many top individuals including Eddie Murphy as the dragon Mushu. It is unclear whether there really was a Mulan that took her place in her father’s stead, but the legend of Mulan has been around for several centuries. Hua Mulan was first mentioned in the Ballad of Mulan. The legend states that she lived during the Northern Wei Dynasty which lasted from 386 to 534. Some earlier reports state that Mulan was actually a concubine of Emperor Yang of Sui China. Mulan has been an extremely important character too many whether she was real or fiction. Even today the story of Mulan lends strength of character to those who wish to learn a lesson.

Dressing up as Mulan

Mulan had several outfits in the film, but the two you will find most often will be a Geisha costume or the Samurai outfit from Kingdom Hearts the game. The Geisha costume can be found in teens to adult sizes. The armor outfit can also be found in teen and adult sizes. Other costume ideas from Disney include Princess Aurora, The Little Mermaid, and Snow White. With Mulan you may also want to have her friends from the film.
