About Mrs. Lovett

In the tale of Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett was the widowed baker of "the worst pies in all of London" during England's Victorian period. While her dreadful meat pies were cold, Mrs. Lovett had the hots for Sweeney Todd, the "Demon Barber of Fleet Street," helping him dispose of the bodies of those he killed, and using their remains to bake into her meat pies -- which, ironically, became the toast of London with their new, secret ingredient! Mrs. Lovett has been portrayed on Broadway by the legendary Angela Lansbury and most recently on film with a delightfully sexy, yet goofy turn by Tim Burton's missus and muse, Helena Bonham Carter.
